Are you looking to have some fun catching big Striped Bass? StriperFun Fishing Guide Service can put you on big fish on beautiful Lake Cumberland and on the Cumberland River! Guided trips are available year round, weather permitting. The average Striper caught weighs 10 to 12 pounds on the lake and 20 to 25 pounds on the river!
We are one of the largest guide services in the Cumberland region! All guides are U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captains, trained in CPR and first aid and are fully licensed and insured! All of the StriperFun Captains have fished the lake at least 25 years and each boat has top of the line equipment as well. You will always be in good hands! We also specialize in corporate trips!

Specializing in “Trophy” Striper Fishing, owner Captain Jim Durham is a Kentucky State licensed guide who has fished Lake Cumberland year round for most of his adult life and is creator of the Striper Fish like a Pro DVD series, owns www.superbaittanks.com as well as his own line of fishing lures. Captain Jim is also a Staff Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as a Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captain and a local Fire Fighter. What you Can Expect to Catch – How we Fish
We target the mighty Striper. We also as part of the process will catch Smallmouth and Walleye. We use only the freshest live Gizzard and Alewives shad as well as natural lake shiners and suckers, as well as a variety of artificial lures. In the late summer and fall months, we use artificial lures and downriggers to target suspended schools of fish holding in up to 100 feet deep on the river channels.
What to Bring with You – Check List
You will need to bring lunch, drinks, warm clothing, soft soled shoes (tennis or deck shoes), sun glasses, sun screen, hat, cooler for fish fillets and rain gear (if predicted). Fishing License is (mandatory).
Deposits & Cancellation Policy
A $100.00 deposit is required within 5 days of when you make your reservation for any StriperFun fishing trip. The deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least three (3) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least three (3) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeit.
Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain and your boat is covered. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this decision will be based upon hazardous travel conditions (snow or ice) or frequent lightening the morning of the trip.
Where we are located
StriperFun Guide Service is headquartered at beautiful Grider Hill Marina and Resort. We launch from Grider Hill for lake trips. We can arrange all your lodging for you as a courtesy in Grider Hill Resort's great lodge rooms, in our fabulous “lake view” suites or in our exclusive “Park Cabin”! If you are renting a houseboat, with advance notice, we can also pick you up right from your houseboat!
We also fish the Cumberland River out of Celina TN., targeting world class fish!
What is Provided
All bait and equipment is provided and your boat is fully outfitted with marine radio, Coast Guard safety equipment, GPS/fish finders and a heated enclosure for bad weather. StriperFun will clean and bag your catch (at no extra charge – tips appreciated) and will provide photos for you to remember your trip.
For the lake, your trip is a six (6) hour charter or until the boat's limit of Stripers is caught. The limit is 2 Stripers over 22 inches per person booked. Under Kentucky law, the Captain cannot keep fish on a paid charter only the customers can keep fish. If the limit of Stripers for your boat has not been caught at the end of the standard charter time and your group desires to fish longer than the (6) hour charter, the cost is $50.00 per each additional hour until the boat is back at the dock.
For the river trips out of Celina TN, your trip is an six (6) hour charter. We fish with Rainbow Trout as allowed by TN law. One fish over 40 inches can be retained with the remainder catch and release by TN law.
