Captain Jim Catfish Charters specializes in catching “monster” Catfish on the Ohio River out of southern Indiana and on the Mississippi River out of southern Illinois. Our Catfish guides are US Coast Guard and State licensed guides and have many years of fishing experience for these giant Catfish!
- Trips on the Ohio river near Evansville IN run April 1st through mid-June each year.
- Then from mid-June through October we fish the lower Ohio/Mississippi River in Southern Illinois
Everything is provided - Rods, reels, bait as well as trip photos to remember the trip! Clients can keep Catfish 12 pounds and under (bring a large cooler to take the fish whole).
Captain Jim Catfish Charters Fishing trips are 6 hours.
Ohio River - $600 for 1 or 2 people

Mississippi River - $600 for 1 or 2 people
- 6 hour Charter
Add an additional $75.00 for the 3rd person and an additional $100.00 for the 4th person (up to a total of 4 people)
All of the Captain Jim Catfish Charters Captains have years of experience, are trained in CPR and first aid, are fully licensed and insured and have top of the line equipment including quality rods and reels,
What to Bring with You – Check List
You will need to bring lunch, drinks, warm clothing, soft-soled shoes (tennis or deck shoes), sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, cooler for fish fillets and rain gear (if predicted). Fishing License is (mandatory).
Deposits & Cancellation Policy
A $100.00 deposit is required when you make your reservation for any StriperFun fishing trip. The deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least two (2) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least two (2) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeit.
Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain and your boat is covered. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this decision will be based upon high or dangerous muddy water, hazardous travel conditions (snow or ice) or frequent lightening the morning of the trip. If your trip is cancelled because of the aforementioned dangerous conditions, your deposit is good for another day.
