As a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine officer, United States Air Force Veteran, Coast Guard Aux Search and Rescue Patrol Coxswain and as a Volunteer Firefighter, Captain Jim Durham is the owner/founder of Captain Jim’s Dale Hollow Lake, Cumberland River and Lake Cumberland Boat Tours. Captain Jim Durham’s fishing charter businesses (16 guides on 13 waterways) are some of the largest and best-known charter guide services in the region! Captain Jim has been boating on Dale Hollow, the Cumberland River, and Lake Cumberland for 59 years, since he was six years old. Captain Jim is very well known and respected by marina owners, lake and river area business owners and regional law enforcement and is certified in CPR and first aid.
PRICING
Dale Hollow Lake, Cumberland River and Lake Cumberland Boat Tours are five (5) hours long (available year around weather permitting)
$450 for 2 people
- with $50.00 additional per head up to 4 customers total, plus expended fuel
Dale Hollow Lake, Cumberland River and Lake Cumberland Boat Tours are five (5) hours long (available year around weather permitting) and start at $450.00 for 2 people, with $50.00 additional per head up to 4 customers total, plus expended fuel (some clients request more water to be covered than others – thus we top of off the fuel tank at the beginning and end of each trip and fuel cost is then paid at the end of the trip).
We take all major credit cards!
No alcohol (including beer) or illegal drugs (marijuana as well) whatsoever are allowed on your fishing charter by law in TN or KY. There is no bathroom on the boat, nor are there any close on the water restroom facilities. Men relieve themselves off the side of the boat and we have an emergency bucket available for the ladies. If this is a problem, please advise us now before arriving for your trip.
Your deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least two (2) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least two (2) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeited. Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if there are mechanical difficulties with the boat or tow vehicle or if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this weather decision will be based upon hazardous conditions (hard snow, muddy water, high wind, ice or frequent lightning) prior to the trip. If your trip is cancelled because of the aforementioned dangerous conditions, your deposit is good for another day.
We launch (at agreed upon times) on Dale Hollow from Willow Grove Marina in TN, on the Cumberland River at the Roaring River Corp of Engineers Park in Gainesboro TN and on Lake Cumberland from Grider Hill Resort in KY. Your trip includes a stop at your marina of choice for lunch and a rest room break (or a stop upon request) at other marinas.
Captain Jim charters (see above photos) out of a 24-foot center console Alweld Escort Bay boat. Powered by a Mercury 150 four (4) stroke outboard, she is quiet yet extremely stable and fast to cover a lot of water! She has full Humminbird electronics (GPS and Radar), a huge 7 foot long 6 foot wide Atlantic Towers T-Top (covering customers from rain) and is heated and can be quickly enclosed for really cold or wet days. There is comfortable seating for four (4) customers!
You will enjoy the beautiful lake scenery as your tour these beautiful lakes and the river and will see many interesting sights, both on the shore and underwater on sonar! Captain Jim provides the history of the area during the trip so you can learn about the region. It makes for a fun carefree day.
