Cave Run Lake, located in the northernmost portion of the Daniel Boone National Forest, is an 8,270-acre lake located just 60 miles east of Lexington Kentucky. Cave Run Lake is one of the top “big” Muskie Lakes in America!
As one of the top Muskie Guides on Cave Run since 2000, our guide heads up Kentucky Muskie Charters! His decades of experience, when coupled with his vast knowledge of Cave Run Muskie, puts our clients on the big ones! These trips provide a great learning curve for our clients!
Muskie are a very elusive fish, known as the fish of 10,000 casts. They are an extremely cherished and revered trophy fish! Cave Run has a tremendous population of huge healthy Muskie!
When a big Muskie comes after a lure (many times you can watch the big predator circling!) your adrenaline starts pumping! Then its “Kabam” and the rod gets yanked down and the reel is screaming! Throughout the year, it is not uncommon to see 20 or 30 pound “goliath” Muskie pulled from the beautiful waters of Cave Run Lake. This fishing is not for the faint of heart however! These big fish hit like freight trains, making long powerful runs! We use large rods, heavy duty reels and 50-pound test line with wire leaders!
Kentucky Muskie Charters offers day trips on Cave Run Lake October - May (weather permitting).
We are a catch and release only company, but we work with the KY Bluegrass champion taxidermist can arrange for you to get a fiberglass mount of your fish that will look terrific! Our clients who catch a big fish over 40 inches, many times choose to get a fiberglass mount!
Kentucky Muskie Charters Lake trips are 5 hours.
$475 for 1 or 2 people

Add $50.00 for an additional person up to a total of 4 People
All of the Kentucky Muskie Charters Captains have years of experience, are trained in CPR and first aid, are fully licensed and insured and have top of the line equipment including quality rods and reels, 50-80 lb. braid, fluorocarbon and steel leaders and specialized lures. You will always be in good hands! We also specialize in corporate trips!
What to Bring with You – Check List
You will need to bring lunch, drinks, warm clothing, soft soled shoes (tennis or deck shoes), sun glasses, sun screen, hat and rain gear (if predicted). KY fishing license is (mandatory).
Deposits & Cancellation Policy
A $100.00 deposit is required when you make your reservation for any Kentucky Muskie Charters fishing trip. The deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least two (2) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least two (2) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeit.
There is no bathroom on the boat, nor are there any close on the water restroom facilities. Men relieve themselves off the side of the boat and we have an emergency bucket available for the ladies. If this is a problem, please advise us now before arriving for your trip.
Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this decision will be based upon high or dangerous muddy water, hazardous travel conditions (snow or ice) or frequent lightening the morning of the trip. If your trip is cancelled because of the aforementioned dangerous conditions, your deposit is good for another day.
