Laurel Dam Trace!
Striper Fishing on the beautiful trace waters out of the Laurel Lake Dam!
The Laurel River Dam Trace is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest. We fish for huge Stripers in the “cold” trace waters that flow out of the Laurel Lake Dam into the Cumberland River, as well as in the Cumberland River itself near where the trace flows in! This area is located only 25 minutes from Corbin KY, 20 minutes north of Jellico TN and only 55 minutes south of Lexington KY.
Our guide grew up there and has decades of experience catching these huge fish that abound in the cold trace waters from the dam! In this area where the Cumberland River meets the tail water out of Laurel Lake, the fishing is phenomenal! Limits are caught frequently. The average fish is usually around 13 pounds but larger Stripers are not uncommon. We fish with live Shad using down lines and pulling planer boards as well. Most excitingly, on many days there is a great “top water” bite as well!
This is a very private area and, on most days, we will be the only boat on the water. StriperFun offers day trips on the Laurel Trace May - September (weather permitting).
We also work with the KY Bluegrass champion taxidermist who can arrange for you to get a fiberglass mount of your fish that will look terrific! Our clients who catch a big fish over 40 inches, many times choose to get a fiberglass mount!
The Stripers in the Laurel Dam Trace must be 22 inches long to keep them. Each fisherman can keep two (2) Stripers. These trips are 5 hours.

What to Bring with You – Check List
You will need to bring lunch, drinks, warm clothing, soft soled shoes (tennis or deck shoes), sun glasses, sun screen, hat and rain gear (if predicted). KY fishing license is (mandatory).
Deposits & Cancellation Policy
A $100.00 deposit is required when you make your reservation for any StriperFun fishing trip. The deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least two (2) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least two (2) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeit.
There is no bathroom on the boat, nor are there any close on the water restroom facilities. Men relieve themselves off the side of the boat and we have an emergency bucket available for the ladies. If this is a problem, please advise us now before arriving for your trip.
Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this decision will be based upon high or dangerous muddy water, hazardous travel conditions (snow or ice) or frequent lightening the morning of the trip. If your trip is cancelled because of the aforementioned dangerous conditions, your deposit is good for another day.
